Should I suede guitar to clean old car?

I have a chamois that my car was a year o. It is in good shape. It is approximately 18 inches 12 years, so it can cut a foot 6inch section. Has anyone done this (or those who bought a chamois?) Will not stop the "bullying" Tiny scratches on the surface. Chamois cloth will help to keep the pitch (especially with a good wipedown during string changes)?
